Business Coaching That Counts

It seems as though the title changes but the support remains similar. It was the rage to have a mentor; but this was usually perceived as free support. So the business coach was born. Coaches felt free to charge a fee for what support they offered.
The problem for a business operator is deciding which individual coach can give them the best support. But should they put all their eggs in one basket? Rather than one mentor or one business coach, it would be preferable to have a team that can provide a strong mix of skills to make your business life easier and growth more sustainable.
Business coaching has become an overpopulated industry where anyone and everyone who has some knowledge in business is trying to capture the market. Once we used to say if you were a consultant that meant that you were retrenched and were trying to make a living by hiring your services out. Now it is the same with business coaches. They are a dime a dozen and any network meeting you attend is likely to have a predominance of this industry. And there is a great deal of evidence suggesting that many do not have the skills or experience needed.
Does this mean that it is not advisable to have a business coach? Definitely not. A good business coach is worth their weight in gold. They will guide you, provide a strong network of skilled professionals to assist you; give you confidence; help you to think outside the square and will generally act as a sounding board for you.
The trick is to find one that is highly skilled with a ton of actual business experience that suits your needs. I am amazed at how many coaches offer their services when they have never run a business; let alone a successful business!
A business coach suitable for the corporate sector will probably not be suitable for a home based business. There are three major areas that you need specific skilled personnel to help you (and you are unlikely to find all three in one person) IT, Marketing and Finance require very different skills, so your coach must have support experts within their network so that you can draw on their experiences.
The solutions is to ask as many questions as possible:-
1) Do they have an Industry Accreditation?
The answer will let you know how seriously they take their professional standing in the community.
2) Can they assist you to receive an accreditation?
If they understand your business they should be encouraging you to increase your kudos by also becoming accredited.
3) Have they ever won an award?
Being prepared to have a third party assess their business is a sign of confidence and ability.
4) Have their clients ever won awards?
If they understand the importance of Awards as a marketing tool, they would have encouraged clients to enter awards.
5) What is the area that they have the most experience in?
You need to know if their strength is in Marketing, IT or Finance
6) What size businesses do they specialise in helping?
This is an important area of consideration; too big and they will not have an understanding of the specific problems and needs of Micro/HBB
7) What type of businesses do they have as clients?
If their business was as an artist; I would not recommend using them if you are an artist as you need a wider scope of skills for a business coach. But if they specialise is assisting artists; then I would use them.
8) Do they have meetings and phone and email support?
You need to be quite clear as to what they offer in the way of communication and ensure that it suits your needs.
9) Do they have some working templates that you can use to help organise your procedures and measure outcomes?
A business coach who has lots of tools to give you to make your lot easier, is a great advantage.
10) What Network organisations do they belong to?
If they do not belong to a networking organisation where they can develop relationships, then it is going to be difficult for them to give you good tips and introductions.
11) What Industry associations do they belong to?
All businesses should belong to at least one Industry Association and I would be very wary of any business coach who did not.

If you’ve been thinking it’s time to raise your fees I bet you’ve felt what I call, the “gulp factor.” The gulp factor is when part of you suddenly turns to jelly, quivering at the thought of actually stating your new fees out loud. Fear takes over, cloaked in the disguise of all the reasons you “should” keep your fees the same. That voice inside is probably telling you: “What if my new fees are too much?” “Who am I to charge so much more?” “If I charge more I’ll have to do more. I don’t want to work harder.” And my success coaching favorite: “What if they say ‘no’ and I lose clients?” Sound familiar? I thought so. Now, you and I both know that the voice is the sound of fear, not truth. The job of fear is to keep you in the SAME PLACE you are right now. Fear is, well, fearful of growth, fearful of change and certainly fearful of you claiming your brilliance. Let’s take a look at three simple tips for women entrepreneurs to banish the fear so they CAN raise their fees with confidence: Business Coaching Tip #1: Tally the results your clients have achieved in the past six months.What changes have your clients experienced? Did they ask for a raise, quit their job, gain new clients or solve important problems? Write down their specific, measurable results. What emotional achievements did they experience? I honestly believe that worrying that your clients can’t afford your services is really an issue of self-worth, cleverly disguised as sympathy. When I find myself slipping into that trap I snap out of it by reminding myself that when something is important enough, everyone finds a way to make it work financially. Women entrepreneurs do their clients a much greater, authentic, soulful service by holding them fully capable of stepping up and making decisions. And by standing in her own power around mo-ney, a woman small business owner makes it possible for her clients to do the same. Business Coaching Tip #3: When clients pay more they typically get better results.People respect mo-ney and tend to care more for the things for which they pay more. For example, do you usually see fancy cars or homes in disrepair? Of course not! Their owners value and care for their investments. You’ll find that the same is true when your clients pay more for your services. In fact, just the act of stepping up and paying a premium for a service will often trigger change at a deep, soul level. All of a sudden, clients take themselves more seriously, which is why you’ll see them get better results. Business Coaching Helped Baby Angel Thrive

Some women who did it all before giving birth think they’ll be fine after they give birth. They’ve never experienced problems before, after all. What could go wrong? As many new mothers soon found out, lots. Turns out, transitioning to motherhood isn’t as easy as they thought it would be. Business Coaching Turned a Start-Up Around

Three years ago, Chris Robertson and his family moved from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast. With his own business, Robertson thought he?d have a flexible schedule to enable him to enjoy the beaches and golf courses, but unfortunately, with his business, he actually didn?t have a flexible schedule. Robertson was working all the time at his business, Beel Welding and Fabrication ? long days, every Saturday and some Sundays. And worst of all, he wasn?t making as much money as he knew he could. Why Any Business Needs a Business Coach

How can you tell if you and your business have a need for a Business Coach? If you are working too many hours, making too little money, dealing with too many issues related to your team and employees, or simply feeling that working in your business is little better than having a job, then you probably need a Business Coach. In today’s economy, that is the state of most business owners. It’s also why more than 80% of all businesses fail within five years, even when run by smart, bright and highly motivated individuals. The good news is the gap between what people think they know about business and business reality can be filled very effectively by a good Business Coach. Why? It’s not a very well understood situation, but the average business owner has to deal with so many issues at any single point in time, and has such a full schedule that they rarely seem to feel that they can have any sort of personal life for themselves.
